This event is steeped in Optimist Tradition going back over 35 years. Grandfathers and fathers bring their grandchildren and children to this annual dinner to allow the grandmother and mothers to have peace and quiet while preparing for Thanksgiving. This event falls on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and has entertainment for the kids. Also, a special guest appearance is made by Santa Claus himself with a bag full of toys for the good girls and boys.

Our own local project is the Hammond Optimist Youth Sports Complex and our affiliation with Hammond Optimist Youth Sports. The complex and program is named for us due to the contributions to develop the park and our yearly support of the HOYS program.
